Hannah Stouffer:
Wolf: The use of repetition and mirroring in this design allows it to take on a aesthetically pleasing shape which could also be adding to the concept. When i see this shape i see a love heart - possibly because Im a bit of a girl - maybe done to incorporate the intended mood and emotion or the artwork.
Prehistoria: Really like the use of metallic colour in this one. I would like to see what...
Puckish Clothing:
Gravel: Although i want to make sure my work is direct, and does not include any aspect that does not give to the design, I would like to avoid my designs become so abstract that they lose all meaning and expression, as seen here. I do however like the use of space in this t-shirt.
Yellow Flower Cluster: The imagery and idea behind this t-shirt appeal to me greatly, but i think the yellow...
Mutiny Bikes:
Hex: Until i saw these designs, it did not occur to me that prints could be positioned on the back of the t-shirt. What would this bring to the design conceptually? Would it improve the visibility of the design, or lessen it? This is something i would like to investigate more into
Let’s Get Mystical: Strange how a few speckles around what could be seen as a traditional painting-like...
No Star Clothing:
Big Bear: Really like the mixed media approach to this design. The graphic shape allows the detail of the line work to catch the eye without it appearing old fashioned. The colours also bounce off eachother, again allowing each element to become more striking. Maybe this is the key to producing detailed illustrations for a new age audience?
Triangles and Bars: Although this design is very...
Sharp Shirter:
Haymaker: The lack of line work within this design gives it a fresh and contemporary feel whilst still holding the relevant detail to allow it to still work. It also gives it a crisp finish which is very eye-catching and striking
Captain Octopus: Really like the traditional line drawing of this design. Does content that is already interesting and striking need contemporising to sell? Could it...
Option-g:
Aurora Borealis: Love the use of negative space in this design. I think it is something i need to take into consideration within my work, as sometimes over illustrating something can take away from the initial impact of a design. I this case it definitely adds conceptual value to the design, allowing you to put yourself within the design, and really appreciate the beauty of the Aurora Borealis...
Sixpack:
Syzygie: I would like to avoid creating designs that sit awkwardly on the t-shirt or don’t use the space available to its best ability. To me, designs like this look cheap and lack consideration. It is almost as if the design was created for another purpose.
Initiation: I really like the colours used in this design as they add to the psychedelic nature of the illustration. This could be...
Suburban Bliss
Deaths-Angel-Fixed: Another example of how the design has not been considered in regards to its desired media. This is a shame because i really enjoy the illustration style of the print. Although the style is quite traditional, it still appeals to an audience similar to mine, due to its surreal and bizarre content, which is not immediately apparent, making you want to take another look at the...
Tender Loving Empire:
Santiago Uceda Gentle Emperor: Really like how the type is incorporated into the illustration on this one. I think this would be a good way to incorporate exerts from the stories i am illustrating without having a very wordy lump of type situated on the t-shirt. It also allows the type to have some creativity with the way it flows and reads which, done in moderation, could really aid the concept...
Kid Acne:
Featherface: I really like the simplicity of the line-work in this drawing. That coupled with the use of large block colour allows this design to really stand out. I also think the size of the illustration strengthens the drawing. I would like to see how the sizing of an illustration can affect its conceptual values within the realms of t-shirt designs.
Owlface: I still think that black and...
Full Bleed
Bad Seed: Using the colour of the T-shirt itself could strengthen the concept behind my t-shirts and act as mood-lighting for the illustrations i print. As most of the illustrations will have dark connotations and concepts, maybe i should avoid the use of loud and bright colours. By doing so i will need to watch that my T-shirts don’t become lost in the background or lack interest.
